Today is the 18th

Dear Mom,

This week has been a pretty interesting one. The work is still slow, but we had the opportunity to go on switch offs with our zone leaders and I got to see an amazing example from them.

A fairly long term investigator that we've had couldn't get baptized yet because she couldn't get permission from her grandmother. We fasted for her and a few days later we called her and she said she got permission and can get baptized this Sunday! It's so exciting!

We have two other investigators who are both really good and have accepted dates to get baptized. We've done a lot of heartfelt praying and fasting and have seen these miracles as well as the little miracles that we experience everyday. I can honestly say that recently I've rediscovered the power of prayer combined with fasting.

As we were leaving the internet cafe last Monday, someone came up to us, asked if we were missionaries, and said that he had just moved to Surin from another area and wanted to keep learning the gospel with us. What a miracle!

A member who was just baptized a little over a month ago brought a friend to learn with her and at first she said she didn't want to learn, but at the end she said she wanted to get baptized. That friend then brought two other friends to learn.

About a month ago, I called someone I had contacted on the street and invited him to come to church with us that Sunday. He said he was going out of town and would have to see if he had time, he was very busy. This person said they really didn't have time and usually people who say they just don't have time aren't actually interested. However, two weeks later, he called us and showed up to church. He's never learned about Christ or come to church, but he said he wanted to try it out and even asked us if he could pay donations to the church. What a nice guy.

There's so much more, so many more little miracles, that occur more frequently than we think. Even though I really can't speak Thai well or know what to do, there is always good to be found at the end of each day.

Oh, and I forgot my birthday. I hung that banner, we ate ice cream, and we had a mini party with some of the members. It was a great surprise.

And I also gained a greater appreciation for the pancakes you made us kids.

We visit and call less active members and do all we can to help them come back to church. There's usually some reason that they stop coming and by working through the members with love, they usually come back. I just heard that in Bangna there were 25 LA/RC's at church there. That's a lot!
